Brainstorm

A whiteboard for the part of the work that has no shape yet.

What it is

An infinite canvas with sticky notes, text and connections. No hierarchy, no required fields, nothing that has to be filled in — it is deliberately the least structured part of the product, because structure is what you are trying to find.

When to reach for it

• Working out who wants what, before any of them are characters.
• Arranging the beats of an act and seeing the gaps.
• Anything you would otherwise do on paper and then photograph.

Turning it into records

An item on the board can be sent to the project as a real record — a sticky becomes a character, a cluster becomes an entry. The board keeps the reference, so you can see what a note turned into.

This is the point of having the board inside the product rather than in another tab: the moment an idea firms up, it moves without being retyped.

Boards

A project can hold several boards. They are not nested and there is no folder structure, for the same reason there are no folders in notes.

Who can see it

A board belongs to the project, so anybody who can read the project can read the board, and anybody with write access can move things on it. It is not private — for that, use notes.
