AI capture

Capture reads a passage you have already written and offers the records it finds in it — characters, places, events — for you to accept, edit or discard. Nothing is written to your project until you say so.

What it does

You paste or select a passage. Capture proposes entities it can quote from that passage, shows you each one beside the sentence it came from, and waits. You review the list, change what is wrong, untick what you do not want, and save the rest in one step.

It is a reading tool, not a writing one. It never invents a character who is not in the text: a proposal that cannot be quoted from your own words is discarded before you see it.

What it costs

Capture runs against your own provider key, which you add in settings. We do not resell model access and we take no margin — the bill is between you and your provider, at their prices. Your key is encrypted before it is stored and its plaintext is used for exactly one thing: the call to the provider.

There is no daily allowance, because the spending is yours. There is a rate limit on how often a run may start, which exists to stop a loop costing you money by accident.

What we send, and what we do not

We send the passage you selected and the instructions that shape the answer. We do not send your other chapters, your other projects, your account details or anything about the other people in your project. Provider errors are stripped of credentials before they are logged.

Who can use it

Two separate things have to be true. The feature has to be switched on for your account or for the project — that is the rollout, and it is what the "Request access" button asks about. Then the permission has to be yours within the project: a member who cannot create characters cannot create them through capture either, and the module never becomes a way around the role you were given.

Why it is being rolled out gradually

It spends money against a key you supply and it writes records into a project other people share with you. Both are worth being careful about, so it is being switched on for accounts and projects a few at a time rather than all at once. Asking for access is a real request that a person reads.
